WeHoGirls vs. NoHoGirls

I have been following the artificial battle between the West Hollywood Girls (WeHoGirls) and North Hollywood Girls (NoHoGirls) on YouTube. The original plot line was that Leah cheated on her best friend Daniella with her boyfriend Eddie. As a natural consequence, they started a video blog to voice their opinion.

Early on, it became clear that this is another Internet miniseries piggy-packing on the success of Lonelygirl15. However, to be fair, Scott Zakarin has pioneered a similar approach way back when we were still dreaming of Cable/DSL creating The Spot and also more recently Soup Of The Day.

In general, this also opens up whole new possibilities for marketing strategies to introduce a new product or service to a market at a very low cost with viral marketing being the main driver - think a coordinated Diet Coke plus Menthos campaign.

I think the original idea was horrible, but as the plot continues, it has some degree of entertainment, especially the comments - honest feedback in real-time from the viewers.

I know some pretty scandelous stuff happened between Eddie and I but honestly I don't think I'm a horrible person. Daniella and I were very close and I hope we can work around this.
